You play as Isaac, a young "Adept" from the village of Vale, who must lead a party of magically gifted companions across the world of Weyard to prevent the destructive power of Alchemy from being unleashed.

• Psynergy System: Unlike many RPGs where magic is limited to combat, Golden Sun Universe features Psynergy—spells used both in battle and for solving intricate environmental puzzles, such as moving logs, freezing water, or reading minds.

• The World of Weyard: A massive, "flat earth" fantasy world governed by four elements: Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water.
• The Quest: After a group of powerful antagonists steals the Elemental Stars from the sacred Sol Sanctum, Isaac and his friends Garet, Ivan, and Mia must pursue them across the continents of Angara and Gondowan to stop them from lighting four elemental lighthouses.

• Isaac: The silent protagonist and a Venus (Earth) Adept.
