Nintendo 64 non oem reprodction Fighter Destiny 2 video game cartridge.
Fighter Destiny 2 is a 3D fighting video game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Developed by Genki and Opus Corporation and published by SouthPeak Interactive and Imagineer, it serves as the sequel to the critically acclaimed 1998 title Fighters Destiny.
Core Gameplay & Point System
Unlike traditional fighting games of its era that relied strictly on depleting a health bar, Fighter Destiny 2 focuses on a tactical, points-based victory system. Draining an opponent's stamina meter doesn't immediately knock them out; instead, it leaves them temporarily vulnerable. To win a match, players must accumulate a set number of points by executing specific combat achievements:
- Knockouts (KO): 4 points
- Special Finishing Moves: 4 points
- Throws / Throw-downs: 3 points
- Counter-attacks: 3 points
- Ring Outs: 1 point
The game's 3D mechanics emphasize spatial awareness, grapples, and timing over mindless button-mashing, closely aligning its defensive flow with wrestling game mechanics rather than traditional 2D brawlers.
Roster and Game Modes
The game features a total of 16 characters (11 initially playable and 5 unlockable hidden fighters). The roster brings back several fan favorites alongside brand-new international fighters utilizing distinct martial arts styles—such as the Brazilian samba-infused moves of Ariana or the slapstick techniques of Pierre from France.
Available gameplay modes include:
- Fighter's Arena: A brand-new single-player campaign mode that utilizes a board-game format (similar to Mario Party) where players roll a wheel, move across spaces, and win battles to unlock new skills and upgrade their stats.
- Versus Computer / Arcade: Standard progression against the AI.
- Versus Player: Local multiplayer where scoring attributes and ring sizes can be fully customized.
- Training / Practice: Mode dedicated to mastering character combos and inputs.
- Record Attack / Survival: Challenges aimed at defeating enemies under strict time limits or surviving unique hazards.
- Collector Value and Availability
- Today, Fighter Destiny 2 is remembered as a unique hidden gem in the sparse N64 fighting game library.
