Conker's Bad Fur Day is a 2001 action-platformer developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64. It follows the misadventures of Conker the Squirrel, a greedy, hard-drinking red squirrel who gets lost after a night of heavy drinking and must find his way home to his girlfriend, Berri.

Key Features

• Mature Content: Despite its cutesy appearance, the game is strictly for adults, featuring graphic violence, profanity, alcohol and tobacco use, and "toilet humor".
• Pop Culture Parodies: The game heavily parodies iconic films like The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Alien, and A Clockwork Orange.
• Unique Gameplay Mechanics:
• Context-Sensitive Pads: Instead of traditional item collection, players stand on "B" pads that trigger specific abilities or items needed for that exact moment (e.g., pulling out a slingshot or drinking Alka-Seltzer for a hangover).
• Absurd Objectives: Challenges include fighting an opera-singing mound of feces named the "Great Mighty Poo" and navigating a war zone between squirrels and "Tediz" (Nazi-like teddy bears).

Historical Significance

Originally intended as a family-friendly game titled Twelve Tales: Conker 64, it was completely retooled after criticism that it was too similar to Rare's other titles like Banjo-Kazooie. It pushed the N64 to its technical limits with its detailed graphics and full voice acting—a rarity for the console. 

While it underperformed commercially at launch, it has since become a cult classic. A remake, Conker: Live & Reloaded, was released for the Xbox in 2005.
