Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is a 2010 turn-based deductive adventure game developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo DS. Serving as the fifth installment in the Ace Attorney franchise, this spin-off moves the legal drama away from the courtroom defense stand and directly onto the crime scene.
Gameplay Overhaul
Unlike mainline entries, the game introduces structural changes tailored to a prosecutor's perspective:
- Third-Person Exploration: Players can directly control an avatar of Miles Edgeworth using the D-Pad or touch screen to physically walk around crime scenes and search for clues.
- The Logic System: As Edgeworth gathers facts, they are stored in his "logic pool". “Once those pieces of information are in your Logic menu, you can physically "connect" them by tapping them with your stylus and pressing Connect” to spark new breakthroughs. as described by Nintendo World Report.
- Argument & Rebuttal Phases: Court battles are replaced by intense field confrontations. Players press witnesses and present evidence directly at crime scenes to break down false testimonies.
- Life Bar: Making incorrect deductions or false accusations penalizes a health gauge; if it empties completely, the investigation fails.
- Storyline and Structure
- The game features five interconnected cases that together unveil an overarching plot regarding an international smuggling ring. Chronologically, the events take place over a tight two-month period nestled between the conclusions of Trials and Tribulations and Apollo Justice.

- Miles Edgeworth: The brilliant, sharp-witted genius prosecutor who prefers a strictly objective approach to solving crimes.
- Dick Gumshoe: Edgeworth's fiercely loyal, if occasionally clumsy, homicide detective sidekick.
- Kay Faraday: A energetic teenage girl who introduces herself as a "Great Thief" devoted to stealing the truth.
- Shi-Long Lang: An aggressive, high-ranking Interpol agent from the Republic of Zheng Fa who serves as Edgeworth's fierce investigative rival.
